A request for help from Tam Baillie, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People
Through my national consultation, a RIGHT blether, I heard the views of 74,059 of Scotland’s children and young people. I asked them what the four most important areas were that I should be working on, on their behalf, in my time as Commissioner. The children and young people cast their votes and told me that these were: in the home; in the community; where they learn; and in Scotland.
We have produced a range of materials designed to feed back the outcome of those votes and the action we will now be taking in response. They are designed to be displayed and made accessible in classrooms, community centres and halls, waiting rooms and other public spaces where children, young people and adults can access them. Collectively they are called the RIGHT now action plan materials.
We have also produced two short films, the first of which provides a background to children’s rights and the UNCRC, Tam's role as Commissioner, the RIGHT blether vote outcomes and the actions we are now taking in response. The second film also explains the Curriculum of Excellence within the context of the articles contained within the UNCRC.
Please let us know if you would like to receive the posters, postcards or leaflets in another language or format (such as audio or Braille).
