The Commissioner promotes, commissions, undertakes and publishes research on matters relating to the rights of children and young people.

Forthcoming research 2012

The commissioner is seeking a research contractor to undertake research on eligibility criteria and other assessment tools for services for disabled children and young people and their families.

This small piece of work will be commissioned to be undertaken during February - May 2012. For more information and a copy of the specification, please contact Sheila Hamilton, Research Manager on

Recently commissioned research 2011

  • National Quality Standards and a Framework for Participation for Scotland: A scoping study (November 2011 - January 2012)
  • A critical review and analysis of current research and policy relating to disabled children and young people in Scotland (November 2011 - January 2012)

Completed research 2011

A  scoping study on child trafficking enabling the Commissioner to develop a more comprehensive understanding of this issue and make recommendations for policy, practice and legislative change.

A review of progress on improving the rights and status of the children of prisoners in Scotland.

This report presents the final findings from the evaluation of the national consultation 'a RIGHT blether' undertaken by York Consulting on behalf of the Commissioner.
