How to influence

Everyday adults make decisions that affect young people in Scotland. Now's the time to influence them! You can influence people and bring about change...

a RIGHT blether

A RIGHT blether is the Commissioner's consultation with children and young people. It was the biggest consultation ever in Scotland, and 74,000...

Have your say

You have more of a say in things than you might think...

You have the right to influence decisions made by adults that affect you. It’s just one of your rights.

One way to make your voice heard is through the SCCYP website. The Commissioner represents all young people in Scotland, and he and his team want to help make your lives better, safer and happier.

But we can only do that if you tell us what matters to you. That means telling us about:

  • times when you feel that your rights have not been respected
  • laws relating to young people that should be changed or introduced
  • stories about young people on TV, online or in a newspaper that you feel strongly about
  • individuals or groups that work with young people and who you think deserve to be celebrated.

Don't think you can make a difference? We've got some great examples on the how to influence page.

There are lots of ways to talk to Tam also. You can leave a comment, vote in one of our polls, send a postcard or letter, or email us!
