Young people in care have same right to activities

The Commissioner's office has been working with an organisation called SIRCC (which stands for Scottish Institute for Residential Childcare) to produce guidance to encourage access to outdoor activities for children and young people in care.

All children and young people have a right to play (Article 31) as it helps development, and abive all it's healthy and it's FUN! Some children and young people in care and their workers told the Commissioner's office that there were too many rules and regulations about activities that are normal activities for other young people. Things like riding a bike and going paddling in the sea.

The guidance will help workers make sensible decisions about activities like these so that young people in care are treated just like any other young people.
